Beep. Beep beep. Beep beep beep. The sound of Death. The ring of what would cause total annihilation of life. The tune of the Final End of the Universe. As the walls and floors resonated with such frequencies, a limb extended forward. It made contact with an oddly shaped object and then suddenly, silence.
The alarm clock was annoying to say the least. Ex muttered to himself with the same mild irritation he had every single day. What good would an alarm clock do to someone who wakes up early as a routine? Whatever the answer may be, there was nothing he could do about it now. After all, he was not about to try to find answers to the trivial questions of life and the world around him. He was something much more than that. He was on an important mission. As he looked at the alarm clock next to him contemplating trivial questions, a reminder popped up in his visual field and he was forced to turn his attention to more important stuff.
“Room C-2 Needs Maintenance”, it read.
A second later, the floor where he stood before was empty and Ex was right on his way to C-2.
